Breaking news: MAGA plans to celebrate the merger of Paramount and CBS (both to be owned by Larry Ellison, the CEO of Oracle, who has stated his intention to use AI to build a total surveillance state in the U.S.) with a UFC fight on the White House lawn. This will occur on July 4th, 2026, exactly 250 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence. “Trump will mark one of the most consequential days in American history with an event at the White House that has all the class of a strip club in an industrial park,” writes Robert Hubbell in Today’s Edition. He continues:

Trump is single-handedly trying to destroy arts and education, science and medicine, and culture and truth. As he makes plans to sully the White House, he has ordered the Smithsonian Institution museums to begin removing any references to America’s history of divisiveness, slavery and racial exploitation, genocide of indigenous peoples, imprisonment of innocent Americans of Japanese descent, and discrimination against women, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities.

In The Mayan Factor, Time and the Technosphere and other works, the visionary thinker Jose Arguelles explored the thesis that we experience an acceleration of historical cycles, with repetition of old tropes at an exponentially faster pace, as prophecied by ancient indigenous societies. Arguelles, who died in 2011, developed a similar set of ideas as his fellow psychedelic visionary, Terence McKenna, known for his “time wave zero” hypothesis. Both Arguelles and McKenna placed the “inception of the Noosphere” or the “Eschaton” at the end of the year 2012, based on the Mayan long count calendar. The fact that the culmination or concrescence seems to be occurring a few decades late should not concern us. I think it is clear that something drastic is happening — a disruption to our sense of time, logic, Logos, and reality.

Trump’s brain rapidly disintegrates as he continues to hold a psychic lock on his evangelical followers as well as his billionaire sycophants through the cult dynamics defined brilliantly by Jim Stewartson (dont miss “How It Happened: Why America Mirrors Donald Trump”). We are rushing through the archetypes of past “God Kings” such as Louis XIV (the ballroom next to the White House, the encrustation with gold) and Nero (gladiatorial combat, bread and circuses) at haphazard high speed. It does feel like a kind of crescendo (and approaching crash) of the wave-form of human history — the end of history, in some sense.
