Today, I turn fifty-eight - an imponderably vast number! In my heart, I still feel I am in my twenties, just getting started, still waiting to get struck by lightning bolts of love, inspiration, revelation, communion.
Time is fascinating.
I still live in New York City, where I was born. I can walk along certain streets and remember so many past experiences, so many layers of past businesses or friends who lived here or there… Time has ripped them away, sent them flying, leaving only my idiosyncratic recollections and nostalgias.
When I wrote 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl (originally released In 2006, now reprinted as Quetzalcoatl Returns), I was absolutely convinced that what I had to say about time and the calendar was incredibly important “new news” for humanity. I thought this would be the fulcrum or essential idea around which we would quickly redesign our entire civilization.
