Live stream with Andrea Chalupa

A recording from yesterday's live video

Thank you to all who turned out for yesterday’s conversation with Andrea Chalupa of Gaslit Nation. Apologies for some glitches and echoes in the first 4:30!

Below is a quote from our chat:

The reality is, as we know from history, as we know from Shakespeare's plays, that absolute power corrupts absolutely. And the amount of power that the world's richest man has and the utter lack of oversight and the several laws that we know for a fact that have been broken so far in what Musk is doing with his all-out purge and attack on the U.S government, this is all illegal. This is, by any definition, a coup.

And it's very surreal that we're carrying on and living our lives while this coup is going on. But that's also how dictatorship works. Under Hitler, life carried on until it didn't for you personally. Until you were arrested, you were turned in. Until you had your business burned to the ground. And so I think the normalcy of it startles people because they think, well, this is a dictatorship. Why aren't they at my door arresting me?

They already are doing that in states like Georgia to activists who are trying to take on overreach by the government, like Cop City and so on. So they're already doing that in these red states, so-called Republican hostage states. And so first and foremost, believe your eyes and ears and check in with yourself.

The second thing I would say, what has sustained me all this time, which is necessary, and when I don't do it, everyone's worse for it around me. I do a daily spiritual practice. Even if it's a few minutes, I check in with myself. I check in with my higher mind.

My father is a neuroscientist. I grew up around scientists. And one thing my father as a neuroscientist told me, we as humans are just at the very, very start of understanding the full power of the mind. The power of developing our higher mind. And so I work on that every day as much as I can. I pay attention to my dreams. I pay attention to how I'm feeling.

I've had some extraordinary experiences personally around this, completely sober. And so I very much believe in cultivating your inner light, your inner power, your higher mind. I think that is essential, not just for your own self-care, but for our collective self-care.

The third thing is... This is very overwhelming, and it's deliberately overwhelming. But we're just at the start, and this is the quiet before the storm. Because what's happening next?
