So nice to meet star hawk, I could benefit from having a grandma right now, elder guidance in general. Thank you to you both.

Hi Daniel - I don't know if you can do anything about this, but the sound quality on the recording of this conversation was very poor, with your voice in particular too quiet for me to follow, though I was able, with effort and full volume, to hear what Starhawk had to say in reponse. I did very much appreciate the conversation and left with the term "social permaculture" as a wonderful, descriptive, evocative name for the kind of society we need to create for ourselves, our children and our grandchildren. I strongly believe that conversations with the intention of collaboratively exploring what this (social permaculture) might look like in the details are a vital first step towards realizing that dream. So thank you for the conversation, and I hope there will be more of the same kind coming.

Daniel and Starhawk, I understand that only soldiers and sailors take an oath to protect the constitution and the president, but officers and marines only take an oath to the constitution. I believe this is a pivotal issue in the approaching events towards totalitarianism, as the military, certainly the marines, are the most intensely patriotic people in the country. Between the Marines and the veterans I believe patriotism may have enough clout to withstand the assaults of the poser buffoon.

On the subject of human needs, and the need for belonging specifically, I have been getting back into the work of Miki Kashtan, who has been doing these small group Nonviolent Global Liberation calls, discussions with grassroots activists, along with writing a blog with ideas based on the Maslow-ian conception of universal human needs. Very insightful and helpful in framing what’s happened as well as the opportunity ahead of us.

Daniel, I am sorry to say I have not ever heard about you or your work, but I am so delighted to be a witness to this conversation between you and Starhawk. You raised such important points, particularly the point about not being able to find the “we” that you feel part of. You are certainly not alone in this and it’s not just because you’re a white man. I’m going to follow you now and look forward to seeing who else you’re in conversation with and what other ideas you’re exploring in these chaotic times. Thank you.

It was great to listen to Star hawk, particularly her perspectives about charles Eisenstein, RFK Jr, vaccines, and the demise of the constitution in the current MAGA right wing fiasco. I wrote a newsletter about the shadow and gold of the new age movement during the global pandemic and 2016 trump shit show, or, lack of leadership. Not to mention shocking extreme left new-age trumpers and anti-vaxers that made some good points, but clearly made a lot of broad generalizations about Big Pharma, Big AG, and the ENTIRE government being corrupt. I feel inspired to add some current points regarding Eistenstein's slippery positions about the vaccine and RFK JR, particularly when he announced that he was running his political campaign. There were some good points made by Drew Dellinger that I resonated with, particularly his valid perspectives about his lack of critical thinking skills and inability to fully be accountable for his beliefs about the vaccine. He also resorted to rose colored glasses idealism, which is very human, but didn't provide any grounded solutions. I will email this to you when I am finished as this has been a topic that I have followed closely as a sociologist, writer, and therapist. www.guanyinhealingarts.com
