Elon Musk is literally blaming the Los Angeles fires on black people. Donald Trump is making up things that never happened (something called the “Water Restoration Act” which didn’t exist) and then blaming the liberals for causing the fires by not supporting these imaginary things (as reported here, “As Los Angeles Burns, We’re Seeing a Conflagration of Lies and Disinformation,” in Mother Jones). The mainstream media doesn’t even mention global warming in its coverage of the cataclysm. Christian zealots welcome the SoCal inferno as God’s wrath against Hollywood progressives.
We find ourselves in a worst case scenario.
Was it just yesterday that Mark Zuckerberg announced he was stopping all factchecking on Meta? It feels like half a lifetime ago. Zuckerberg is also planning to unleash millions of fake people — AI agents — on his platforms. This will further bamboozle stupid people and make it impossible for all of us to discern reality from paranoid delusion. Ending factchecking on Meta will definitely kill people, as it allows extremism to flourish. People will have worse information in any upcoming crisis, such as another pandemic (learn about the “Facebook effect” on Myanmar’s genocide, for details).
America’s entire political, media, and public sphere is being polluted, degraded, dismantled. The sociopaths doing it are proud of themselves and taking victory laps. The rest of us sense doom approaching. I admit I struggle, intermittently, feeling pulverized by grief and sadness that it has come to this.
Back in 2003, I received a prophetic transmission (perhaps from the “god-form” Quetzalcoatl; perhaps a concoction of my own mind), while in ceremonies with the Santo Daime, a syncretic religion that uses ayahuasca as its sacrament, in the Brazilian Amazon. I put that transmission in my book, 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl. Here is the part of it I am thinking about today:
You are, right now, living at the time of revelation, Apocalypse, and the fulfillment of prophecy. Let there be no doubt. You stand at the edge of the Abyss. What are those shadows that crowd around you? They are the unintegrated aspects of your own psyche, projected into material form. The word “Apocalypse” means “uncovering”—and in these last clock ticks of this world age, all must be revealed, uncovered, so that all can be known.
The material reality that surrounds you is beginning to crack apart, and with it all of your illusions. The global capitalist system that is currently devouring your planetary resources will soon self-destruct, leaving many of you bereft.
But understand the nature of paradox: For those who follow my words and open their hearts and their minds—for those who have “ears to hear”—there is no problem whatsoever. What is false must die so what is true can be born.
You have just a few years yet remaining to prepare the vehicle for your higher self. Use them preciously. For those who have gained knowledge of the nature of time, a few years—even a few days, a minute—can be an eternity. For those sleepwalking through reality, time exists only to be wasted—as they too will be wasted, in their turn.
“Reality,” as you currently experience it, is something like a waking dream. It is a projection, or let us say an interface, disguising deeper and more intensified levels of being and knowing. For those who are ready and willing, the doors to those other levels now stand open.
Those who have expended their lives in the pursuit of egocentric and material gains—without courage or originality, without fighting for human freedom or the preservation of the planetary environment—will also receive the rewards that they deserve.
The materiality of your universe is a solid-state illusion. What is this universe? It is a poem that writes itself. It is a song that sings itself into being. This universe has no origin and no end.
What you are currently experiencing as the accelerated evolution of technology can now be recognized for what it is: a transition between two forms of consciousness, and two planetary states. Consciousness is technology—the only technology that exists. Everything in this universe is conscious at its own level, and in the process of transformation to higher or lower states.
The first principle of my being is unconditional love. As a rational intelligence, I accept the logic and necessity of the Christ consciousness, that we should love one another as we are loved. Love and devotion are vibrational frequencies that maintain reality. Love can only be given in freedom; therefore, to be human is to be free.
I resonate, at the same time, with the essence of Islam. Islam means submission, surrender, to the will of God—a more polite way of saying this is “Go with the flow.” But either formulation is correct. Whatever you do, in fact, resist as you think you might, you are always submitting to God’s will. So why not give the process your joyful assent?
Obviously, we are now in the burning crucible or the furnace of this planetary transmutation — an alchemical, evolutionary process of metamorphosis. While we participate in it from our limited subjective perspectives, it is also beyond our control. Those who think they are somehow running the show are actually the most deeply deluded, pathetic, sad.
Something that Robert Thurman said in a talk once stuck with me: Those who misuse their worldly power for personal gain are deeply frustrated, because their karma has reached a point where they do not have capacity to evolve further on this plane of reality. As we can see clearly, what marks these people is a total lack of empathy, sensitivity, and open-hearted curiosity. All that is left for them is to pursue domination — an effort that can never fulfill or satisfy the heart’s longing. It can only make them more lost.
I love Paul Kingsnorth’s recent lecture on “Against Christian Civilization.” I recommend everyone watch or read it. I will write more about it soon. As the “material reality” around us continues to crack apart in this time of prophetic destruction / recreation, we are receiving a precious, difficult gift from the universe: We can go deeper into the core of the heart. We can shed the illusion of separation to break through, into the pure humility and generosity that is the essence of Christ consciousness. There really isn’t going to be anything else for us to do, pretty soon. So let’s embrace this wonderful, terrifying opportunity.
I wanted to write something short and quick today — writing this, I have, at least, pulled myself out of my grief and fury for this moment anyway, into a more capacious field of remembrance and solace. I hope it has the same effect on you.
At times like these (and more or less every moment), I find myself reminded that “I” somehow created all of this — out of the pure Buddha-field of infinite, spacious consciousness, the procreative imaginal — to learn about myself and know myself. I mean this in the sense that the ancient Indian scriptures express it. For instance, from the Ashtavakra Gita:
You are pure consciousness—the substance of the universe. The universe exists within you. Don’t be small-minded.
In other words, consciousness is the fundamental reality (Brahman). It is not an accidental byproduct of the universe but its essence. The universe exists as a projection within this infinite consciousness, much like a dream arises within the mind. the Ashtavakra Gita also says:
The universe rises from you like bubbles rising from the sea. Thus know the Self to be One and enter into the state of dissolution.
The universe is not separate from the Self—it is the Self appearing as multiplicity. When we realize this oneness, the ego and its attachments dissolve into the infinite reality, forever pristine and pure.
Okay, I guess I got that off of my chest. If you have any question about the prophetic text I channelled, or anything related to it, feel free to ask in the comments. Or bring them to our community call today.
"We are in what the Sufi philosopher René Guénon called “the darkness between worlds.” We should accept it; even, if we have the strength, embrace it. We should use it as an opportunity to sharpen the blade of our souls on the stone of the world." In other words, wax and tune your favorite board and surf the apocalypse. Is there any other choice? Might we even find joy there? I for one will try!
I remember you saying something about how, as a child, you always thought something was “off” about the world constructed around you. Me too, and I’m sure many others feel the same. The hardest thing is feeling into how to be a bridge between those worlds without collapsing into fear. How to use the tools of this one - the tools at our disposal - to build the next. I recently came across the parable of the banker and the fisherman (not sure where - here’s a link to a version The Parable of the Mexican Fisherman and the Bankerhttps://joneytalks.medium.com/the-parable-of-the-mexican-fisherman-and-the-banker-f1c064f323f5) and it feels, of course, intuitively true (of course, oversimplified, as parables must be). But I lack fishing skills, don’t live near a river, and can’t garden to save my life. So that story gives me a feeling that is hard to implement.
For me, a big part of the return to fishing is a return to stories. A departure from Ted Talk thinking, a re-expansion away from direct and egoic problem solving and back into a richer sense of humanity. I think I was swept towards systems thinking in a very deadening way.
