Hi Folks,
I am preparing for a dialogue with my friend David Fuller of Rebel Wisdom… I wanted to give him a sense of the entire scope of my thinking beforehand, so I wrote him these notes just after the first caffeine from a strong filtered coffee hit my bloodstream.
I thought some of you might enjoy them, so I offer them here.
Feel free to email me with questions, ideas… now or anytime.
Kind regards,
Daniel
My views are ultimately esoteric, occult... I think human activities are orchestrated by invisible forces, spiritual and occult forces... Rudolf Steiner, Gurdjieff etc
I see The Great Reset, AI, etc... as part of what Steiner talked about it terms of the "incarnation of Ahriman" which he prophesied for the 21st Century
The frustration around all of the conspiracy narratives not really making sense, the dots never quite connecting... It all makes sense when you have an occult or esoteric context, as Steiner provides... or more depressingly, people like Julius Evola and Rene Guenon, who see this as the degenerative stage of the Kali Yuga leading to destruction of our current civilization and then eventually rebirth / recreation into a "Golden Age"...
In 2012, I looked at the "Archeytpe of the Apocalypse" in a Jungian sense, as the "coming of the Self into conscious realization." The integration of all the aspects of the Psyche, the darkest shadow aspects and also most enlightened altruistic ones... Putin is like an archetypal projection of one aspect of the Psyche.
I was thinking that the Kali Yuga crescendo would be the climate catastrophe (look at heat waves now in Africa and India, the forest fires etc)... now nuclear war seems more likely.
I had a direct experience of receiving a prophetic transmission while researching 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl... It is in the book... The sense of it was that this is indeed the time of "Apocalypse" and we had "only a few years remaining" to prepare the "vehicles" of our higher selves - that was one line. In the book, I struggled to understand this, including the possibility that this transmission was simply a psychological aberration. And I still don't pretend to know.
Although we now have a psychedelic renaissance, there isn't really any serious discussion yet about the psychic, paranormal, supernatural, occult aspects of reality...
Even in a group like Alexander Bard's Dark Renaissance forum, when I try to bring these topics up, Bard shoots me down aggressively
The problem is that without this background, properly contextualixed, around my past thinking, what I think currently probably can't be understood very well.
I do think - or even beyond just thinking it, have had many direct experiences that, to me, although subjective, constitute knowledge -- that, as Jacques Vallee wrote, there is some kind of "consciousness control" system in place.
I felt that Jordan Peterson was adolescent, even childlike in his thinking, a kind of fool, but he touched upon some of the same ideas as I did in my work, yet from such a regressive and disappointing place... Therefore it was very frustrating for me to see the culture embrace him to such an extent. That was probably reflected in our past interview.
Someone like David Luke is one of the only people exploring Psi, paranormality in a serious way... or Dean Radin
From where we are now, to avert nuclear war / destruction, we might have to be thinking about some kind of psychic or occult interventions on a mass scale... round the clock peace meditations etc.
Meditations to cool the planet
My friends at Unify.org do some of this stuff... global meditations etc... but I also find them to be a bit problematic... but I suppose everyone is problematic... If we could solve this situation, we wouldn't be in this Kali Yuga clusterfuck anymore... we must be exactly where the Gods or Archons want us to be... "food for the moon" in Gurdjieff's phrase.
Mostly, from where things were in 2007 when I published 2012, I feel we are in a much worse place on many levels... over the last years there has been an extreme psychological and cultural fragmentation. I think a Kali Yuga catastrophe is more likely than a unified movement to pull things back together into some coherence. The Ukraine war is a great example: How can the world possibly deal with climate change when the largest country in the world is stuck in this regressive mode? And we seem to have lost our capacity even to communicate with Russia as a whole... they are being allowed to get more isolated, to regress further into ancient hates and vengefulness. The country with its 6000 nuclear weapons is run by a small coterie of old dying men, narcissist / psychopaths, who may indeed prefer to end the world as a whole than have it continue... just out of spite.
After I wrote the 2012 book which came out in 2007, I stopped trying to build my own career up... I became totally focused on trying to build a larger movement / network that could perhaps transform/awaken the collective before it was too late... the ecological emergency was a focus of my work even in Breaking Open the Head... I had the hope that psychedelics — particularly ayahuasca — might be a mass trigger (as Leary had hoped in the 60s) to bring about a realization that we needed to stop the momentum of capitalism, which is inevitably leading to planetary destruction, and move in a different direction even if it required hard limits on human behavior and something similar to the resource-based economy that Jaques Vallee proposed for 20 years or a generation until we re-tooled human society to not be disruptive to the Earth's biospheric integrity. I then started Reality Sandwich, Evolver (which had local groups called Spores), made the documentary 2012 Time for Change, and it was ten years before I published another book... which was How Soon Is Now.
When How Soon Is Now came out, it fell into a total void — It was shocking to me. I have stlll never received even one serious review of the book. I had Sting and Russell Brand write introductions - they were friends who loved my work. I thought that this would help signal that the book was worthy of cultural attention, but perhaps it had the opposite effect. It was so strange. The book was an effort to translate my occult and psychedelic phenomenology into a social and political action plan... to propose a "soup to nuts" method by which we could approach the multidimensional catastrophe which was confronting us... unlike other books on the ecological emergency, it offered a positive action plan... but it was too ambitious or just outside of people's capacity to integrate... i am still not sure what exactly. I also made sure to say in the book that it wasn't meant to be an absolute but it was a try... that we needed more tries to think through the design flaws in our system and envision ways to redesign systemically.
For example... we can't have a thriving condition on Earth with any form of the current financial system... the stock market forces corporations to behave sociopathically... to maximize short-term financial value for shareholders... to ignore externalities etc.. I am sure you know all of this.
Yet corporations are also incredibly powerful instruments for transforming matter and energy, for taking ideas and turning them into global realities.
In the book, I tried to look at the problem from a biological lens... proposing that corporations are a bit like the organs in the colllective body of humanity, yet at the moment they are in a mode of exploitation, aggression... The paradigm of evolution is the shift from aggression, competition to cooperation, symbiosis over time... We could envision a new holistic ideal where corporations are no longer forced to compete or die in the stock market, where they no longer work against our own survival capacity as a species among species... but this requires a collective realization and unified movement to transform the underyling logic of the financial system.
Anyway, stuff like that
But my ideas never got any hearing at all — just silence
Of course, Capitalism is a main culprit when it comes to Putinism... going back to the 1990s when the USSR was broken up. I am sure you read Naomi Klein's The Shock Doctrine? American economists from the Chicago School rushed into assist Eastern Bloc countries to privatize all of their state-owned assets and sell them off to the highest bidder as Communism / socialism in any form was "wrong" and unfettered free-market capitalism was the Answer... This led to oligarchy, kleptocracy, gangster Capitalism with Putin taking over. So in that sense, yes, “we” are responsible for Putin. But our mistakes have little to do with Ukraine’s possible inclusion in NATO, as academics like Mearsheimer insist.
