The Coming Cryptocracy

What happens when you let supervillains rule the world?

Today we are experimenting with a slightly different podcast format. I am introducing a guest host, Mark Patterson (see below for his bio), who has great insight into the crypto world, Elon Musk, Vitalik Buterin, and so on. In this wide-ranging conversation, we discuss both the dangerously totalitarian and potentially emancipatory power of cryptocurrencies; the rise of Elon Musk; Technocracy, Inc.; the Venus Project, and many other topics. Mark introduced me to a fascinating dossier of material, Elon Musk Monarch of the United States of America, which I recommend people read and share. Mark and I intend to do a series of talks around current events, bringing on other guests. We would love to hear what you think of this conversation and if you prefer something more structured. Please let us know in the comments.

Most people are not yet realizing that Musk may have a deep strategic plan: A method to his madness. His many initiatives could indicate a purposeful drive toward an outcome that could be terrible for the vast majority of people and other living beings on the Earth. Musk’s Canadian grandfather, Joshua Haldeman, was part of a political party in the 1930s and ‘40s, Technocracy, Inc. They imagined the future of civilization ruled by engineers and scientists, with no democratic participation from the subjects. There would be three massive “Technorates:” one encompassing America from Canada to Mexico; a Eurasian “Technorate” from Russia down to Spain; and an Asian “Technorate.” Each Technorate would be ruled by an engineer/CEO/dictator.

Musk appears to be positioning himself to be the “Imperator” or Monarch of the American Technorate. It is interesting that Trump recently joked about annexing Canada, in a dinner with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau (“Does Trump Want to Annex Canada?”, Politico), and proposed the US will invade Mexico (“Team Trump Debates ‘How Much Should We Invade Mexico?”, Rolling Stone). Perhaps he won’t be the “Peace President” after all!

A frequent user of Ketamine and perhaps amphetamines, Musk is obsessed with video games. Until recently, he was one of the top 20 players of Diablo 4, according to Forbes:
