The Holy War Comes Home

On Groypers, grift, and the normalization of American Fascism

The situation in the United States is so overwhelming at the moment that it is difficult to write about it in any coherent way. I feel a kind of responsibility to try to cover ongoing aspects of it for my circle of influence — for whoever reads and follows this newsletter. Readers can hopefully learn for themselves and then share the basic gist of what’s going on with their circles.

With chagrin, I still find that many if not most people in my extended communities — such as the Burner community, the spiritual communities, the psychedelic community, even the “regenerative society” scene — are simply not paying close attention to what’s going on in any focused way. I find this worrying.

Our situation in the U.S. is veering rapidly toward existential. Real, unfetttered Nazi ideology is making a roaring comeback, as indicated by the recent messages from the “Young Republicans,” and the Tucker Carlson interview with 27-year-old Nick Fuentes last week, which has over five million views on Youtube. Trump also invited Fuentes to dinner at the White House, back in his first term.

I intend to write in more depth about Fuentes very soon. He has declared Christian Americans are in a “Holy War” against the Jews in the U.S. “We’re in a holy war. And I will tell you this: Because we’re willing to die in the holy war, we will make them die in the holy war.” He has stated that “being Right-Wing Is all about “Hating women, being racist, being Antisemitic’.” Here is another quote from Fuentes, who is the spokesperson for a movement of young white men called “Groypers” and describes himself as a “12th Century man”:

“Fuck the UN, and the internet, and democracy. You know what democracy has given us? Obesity. Low rates of literacy. It’s given us divorce, abortion, gay marriage, liberalism, pornography. That’s what democracy has given us. Ghettos and crime and political correctness. Diversity. Yeah, the track record of democracy? Not so good. Catholic autocracy? Pretty strong. Pretty strong record. Catholic monarchy? Catholic monarchy, and just war, and crusades, and inquisitions? Pretty good stuff.”

The mainstreaming of Fuentes is extremely troubling, particularly when we correlate it with other trends in our current political landscape in the U.S. Essentially, as Trumponomics leads to a meltdown of the U.S. economy, the Right will seek to amp up the scapegoat mechanism, attacking immigrants, minorities, and, eventually, the target will inevitably turn toward the Jews. Many American Jews made a “devil’s bargain” by supporting Trump due to his policies on Israel. History suggests they may come to deeply regret this decision.

I am afraid that people are going to realize they need to get involved when it is too late to matter. I know many people feel it is already too late. I understand how many smart, caring people can feel helpless right now. Even so, we still have a moral responsibility, as human beings, to educate ourselves about what’s happening, share the truth with others, and do what we can to oppose what is truly vile and amoral.

More importantly, I do not believe it is too late.

As most readers know, I am not innately interested in politics; I am interested in consciousness. Consciousness is like an endless series of interpenetrating waves that moves and ripples through our collective psycho-social body. At any moment, a new wave of awareness can spread very quickly through our society. We are at a moment where anyone with a concern for consciousness must study the rapid evolution of technocracy, the mass mind-control struggle underway, and other aspects of this geopolitical moment, such as the ecological emergency and the immediate dangers posed by AI, which includes mass unemployment as well as existential threats as it gains more autonomy.

We’ve seen waves of awareness transform societies in other situations, such as the collective realizations that led to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 or the Arab Spring of 2011.
