Praying for grounded, balanced thought leaders to emerge from this. Fear and uncertainty about what's next is driving this behavior on both sides. Continuing to push extreme narratives is driving it further. We can begin to heal by having compassion without judgement and discourse without a leveling of ones own believes onto another. Wish we still had the Assemblage to have a forum on these topics @danielpinchbeck
I am sorry to have missed the Steiner lecture. I am in Australia and the time was prohibitive, unfortunately. Have you recorded it in any fashion, and I could pay for a download? I find him absolutely fascinating. Thank you !
Hi Sean, I disagree with you in some respects. I also don't like the excessive "woke" culture of the Left and the cancel culture which seems to have started in academia. But not liking the extremist of certain Leftist tropes doesn't mean that I have to like, agree with, or support Right Wing extremism. I also think it is worth considering whether a lot of propaganda and disinformation has been used to demonize the "Left". If we think about it, Leftist movements and organizations tend to pose a challenge to the super-wealthy, who don't want workers to unionize, for instance, or demand better social services, as this cuts into their profits. I don't know what you mean by saying the attempted coup at the Capital has been blown out of proportion? Five people died during it. They beat a policemen to death with a fire extinguisher. They smeared shit on the walls. They threatened the lives of elected politicians like Mike P and Nancy P. Naomi Klein is a great journalist but she is certainly Leftist in her criticism of corporate power and "disaster capitalism." Anyway please feel free to clarify your views. Thanks! D
Hi Sean, I totally understand where you are coming from! I also fear this technocratic tyranny from the neoliberals and wrote about it in my short book, Conspiranoia. We are definitely between a rock and a hard place. That is why I do see the success in Georgia as significant. I am also a fan of Bernie and I do think that there is a real possibility of a dramatic Left-ward turn in the US - toward the true ideals of a more egalitarian society, at least on the Northern European model. This means reining in the power of corporations and reducing wealth inequality which has skyrocketed out of control. I think if Trump steals the election we will have Fascism in the US and it could go quickly to genocide. The level of evil madness and hysteria we are seeing in the US suggests that kind of outcome. I am hoping Biden gets in but social organizing toward Leftist solutions then continue and intensify.
"What happened at the Capitol last week was right out of COINTELPRO and the media and the Dems took it and ran with it for maximum propaganda. Why not call it a "mostly peaceful" protest?" - I am not sure I agree with you here. Five people died. A policeman was blungeoned to death with a fire extinguisher. I think the MAGA banner attracts some seriously deviant anti-social personality types who were delighted to have an excuse to maraud and some of them were ready to do far worse.

More Trump is not a solution - please check out Gaslit Nation and Sarah Kendzior's book Hiding in Plain Sight as a great resource.
