There’s already been a lot written and said about the bizarre new portrait of King Charles III that was ceremonially unveiled at Buckingham Palace last week. On a superficial level, the very red painting conveys turbulence and unhappiness instead of regal majesty. New York Magazine articulated a widely-shared sentiment: “Charles’s face is like a disembodied specter of death floating between violent brushstrokes. Does this guy really think now is a good time to remind us of our associations between himself and blood? Alternatively, perhaps this is an imagined depiction of King Charles rotting in hell in real time.”
As I have written recently about MK-Ultra, Monarch programming, and related conspiracies, I felt I would be remiss if I didn’t join the fray and take a look at this bizarre artifact, which features — of all things — a Monarch butterfly fluttering above the beleaguered-looking King’s right shoulder.
