Hi Daniel, thank you for this interesting proposal. You have sparked the conversation with my family - what would you do if you had 1 billion pounds... You mentioned quite a few interesting sounding organizations, do you know of a website/platform that lists regenerative organizations?

Also why, in your proposal, have you made the conferences private? Surely live streaming and open-sourcing it would be best? And do you really think that change comes from leaders at the top? Don't you think grass-roots change is really where the movement comes from?

If you read my book How Soon Is Now, I look at this question of theories of change. I definitely think that humanity needs leadership. I feel there is a natural division or separation of function in the human community, just as there is a natural separation of function among the cells in our body. Not everyone wants to lead or think in systemic ways or be an artist or a shaman. Many people just want to live decent lives, have their children, have work that is meaningful to them. I really like the book Revolt of the Masses which I encapsulate in a chapter of How Soon Is Now. Of course, the true leader works to empower and liberate the people around him or her - turn them into self-directed agents and leaders themselves. But it is a process. Politically, I am an anarchist, but I don't think anarchy would work for us right now, considering the general level of education and awareness. To get to anarchy we would need to build new systems and educational networks, and that would have to be done at first by a smaller self-selected group.

Hi Florence, I made the conferences private because I have to make a living to survive. For years I gave away a massive amount of my content and life energy for free, open-sourced and volunteered and so on, and now I am at a precarious financial position. I believe this society should reward its alternative thinkers and visionaries, but generally it doesn't. By paying for the newsletter or joining the seminars, you support my work and allow me to keep writing and researching. If I was ever to make a good amount of money, I would immediately seek to build platforms for a larger movement as I did with Reality Sandwich / Evolver years ago. Also, another thing, I find that people actually value things far more when they have to pay for them, exchange value for them. I find when I give people free or low cost access to the seminars, they tend to drift away after a few sessions. They haven't really made the commitment psychologically. So actually paying a good amount for the seminars means that people feel they have invested and they are committed, and they actually tend to get a lot more out of it. Hope that makes sense?

Thank you so much for your in-depth and thoughtful response. I totally hear you regarding the exchange of value for experiences and knowledge, I was just thinking about in the context of the 1 Billion Dollar fund, but the same line of thinking would still apply - please show up for things that they invest in. And regarding leadership and anarchy, I will read your book! Thank you for your work

Oh, I see. The private conferences would be aimed at progressive wealth-holders, influencers and popular artists. The goal would be to establish coherence and consensus among a small group. I know this sounds elitist, but I think it is still necessary. One could hold public events at the same time, perhaps through a network of community meetups.
